tampered with it.I rang my housing assoc. 4 times and each time they put a futile mickey mouse lock on it,which was broken.Mine and 2 other residents have now had them damaged costing us £285 each.I E-mailed 2 was told there look into it.Got a letter dated 14/08/06 stated they will reply by 25/08/06.I dont want to rock the boat.But do I have some right?

Yeah, as a landlord and a social landlord at that they have a duty to maintain the meter.

Yes, you do. It is a matter of a common law duty of care. You have fulfilled your obligation by making a timely report to your landlord, it is now a matter for them.

If I were in their position I would do something quickly, if anyone does get hurt, they will be liable.

File a complaint against the children and include their parents as dependants because under the law they are liable for the acts of their children.

If the meter is not physically on your property, then any damage should be down to the electric company that installed it.

put a shotgun blank (20 gauge is safest) use a light glue to glue a BB to the wire that snaps so that it will set it off, and rig it up to go when they open the box or go near it.
