Let foil over the pans be your best friend!!!!!
Works 4 me and I even place it on the bottom of my oven, under the coils to keep oven clean. Change it once a week.

You can get some pot cleaner to clean off the rust. Get one of the scubbers at are ruff on one side.

At home we use the scubber and some laudary powered soap and scub the (our case the cookie sheet) pans, takes a bit of work, not tons but after you get this done, wipe drip and let sit out over nite before putting away.

No, you should definitely not cook with rusty pans. Unless you can get a "rust" remover (I believe you can find one at a local department store - CLR or something like that) to use on them, they should not be used.

rust won't hurt you, why not rewash them by hand.. iron pans should always be hand washed and dried so they don't rust
