Get that bike, you will love it. I have a friend who is on her third one, she loves it and will not buy any other bike. It's good for both around town and on the highways. Here's a link to a friends site who took one on a 700 mile trip.

You know, I started out on a 250. And it was the best investment I could have done. Because I learned how to really ride that bike. Sure I had been on other people's bikes over the years, but this was the first bike I personally owned. I put it through its paces, I rode with all the big dogs (600, 900, 1000, 1100) on road trips. You have to first get a bike that you will be comfortable with. Some people say start out on a 250. And some say a 600. But it depends on you. I stayed on the 250 for 1 year, then moved to a 600 for 3 years and now, I am a BUSA BOY (1300). So get the 250 and enjoy yourself. Look at all the parts you might need to buy in case it falls over (mine did), or the kickstand wasn't quite down (busted turn signals). Dunlop tires, turn signals, oil and filter change, should be all you really need to worry about. Check the NADA price guide buying a 250. Make sure if you go dealership they don't dog you out on pricing.

250CC's is a good starting place..... plenty of power to get you thru traffic on the streets. The biggest mistake first time riders make is purchasing too much power (Big heavy bike) and usually end up in the hospital or worse. You are wise to ask this question, and within time, you will either outgrow your 250 or lose interest all together. I personally rode around on a 350 for more than a decade before I started riding 750's and 1100's and I have
been a safer rider as a result. Good things come to those who wait and EARN the right to ride larger bikes. You will be respected amongst your piers as a result. Riding Motorcycles is going to change your life!

That is a great question, And it all depends on a couple of things I will just make a list and maybe it will help with your decision. 1 how confident are you as a rider.2how far are you planning on riding.3Are you going to take the next step and do a course so you can gain your open licence. 4what do your friends ride. And another thing might be to cruise down to a dealer and jump a few bikes to get height foot position and most important take one for a spine and see how it feels . good safe riding Davyd

You should go with the Kawai Ninja 500. That's a great starter bike. Very reliable easy to find parts for if you ever lay it down.
