I'm going to be in a cast and crutches for 6 weeks because of ankle surgery, how can I entertain myself for the rest of the Holiday break, and on weekends, and when I have spare time?

Stock up on DVDs, get some good books. Oh, notebooks and pencils are a must. Trust me on this: even if you're not a writer, doodling is a great way to waste time).
Think of something you really need to get done (Organizing your CDs, for instance), and just do it.
Start an impossibly time consuming project and see if you can get it done in six weeks.
Catch up with friends and family that you may be too busy to see often.
And of course, hang out on the internet. :-)

You can entertain and educate yourself by doing all of the usual things--read, watch movies/TV, listen to music, paint, draw, begin a journal, etc. AND you can try something different. You can learn to meditate. You have the perfect, albeit unfortunate, situation for exploring/developing a meditation practice.

Developing a consistent meditation practice will benefit you on many levels--physically (you'll probably heal more quickly), mentally--your mind will become more focused, and, emotionally, you will become more balanced. It only takes a consistent effort--about 10-15 minutes a day.
It's best to find a meditation technique that utilizes and works with the breath. If that does not appeal to you, there are many visualization and other techniques available.

There are many, many books on the subject. Or, perhaps, you may want to purchase a CD that guides you through a particular method.

Here's something a bit different--an education/enrichment idea: if you are looking to expand your knowledge in a number of areas (history, art, literature, music, science, social sciences, philosophy, etc.) check out The Teaching Company. They offer excellent college level courses on video, CD, DVD taught by top professors. It's like getting an Ivy League education, is very stimulating and extremely enjoyable as you proceed at your own pace. Another good thing--it's very affordable.

Best of luck with the surgery.

I like to make scrapbooks, which would make great gifts for your friends and family for the holiday. You can find lots of cute, cheap scrapbooking stuff at Walmart, Target, Dollar General and Hobby Lobby. You don't have to be very creative, because there are a zillion magazines and books that you can find at the same places that give ideas that you can just copy. They even make "scrappacks" that you just glue down and add your own pictures. You can make scrapbooks about a certain event, like a trip or a party or a holiday. You can make one about a specific person or family of folks. My favorite kind to make (because they are easy and have an obvious end) is the A-Z book. You can do these with any theme, but I made one for my brother for his birthday. I had a page for each letter of the alphabet and I divided my pictures accordingly. When I got to a page and felt like I didn't have a good picture for it, I got creative and did one of two things. I either took a picture and twisted the obvious (like I put a picture of my son, whose name starts with a G on the F page because he was playing football in the picture). I also used a dictionary on hard pages like Q and X and just did a whole page of "journaling". Each time I used that letter, I used bold letters or big alphabet stickers. It is loads of fun and it leaves you with something your children will think is very cool 50 years from now. I feel bad about your injury, but I wish I had 6 weeks to catch up on my scrapbooks.

Read, watch tv, stock up on movies - you can get some from your local library, write letters, write christmas cards - they have to go out soon anyway, listen to music, sing along with the radio, have friends come over and decorate your cast - adults can do this too, answer more questions on here, play video games, go to the mall and borrow a wheel chair to do some window shopping...

Go to the nearest drug store and buy some pop rocks. Those and a bottle of Sprite keep me entertained for hours.

Well, it's pretty much the same as any other times. Stuff you would normally do - hang out with friends, surf the internet, and listen to music - all that stuff you can do. Actually, if you think about it, since it's winter, there isn't much you can't do that you normally could.

There are many people who would make fun of the prospect of changing their fates. This is because it thinks that no one gets more that exactly what is written in his destiny.
