A rise is the same as a fall. You do not need to select points to make sure the graph rises. You should know what a positive and negative slope look like, so select any two coordinate points and use the equation (y2-y1)/(x2-x1). Whatever you pick as y2 does not matter as long as you pick the x from the same ordered pair. This will produce you with the slope.

If the function is positive, go to the right to make a rise.
If the function is negative, go to the left to make a rise.
