A cashiers check is guaranteed money so I see no reason a bank wouldn't cash it for you. I am sure there is a fee, but there is also a fee at those check cashing places

If you don't have a bank account of any type, You probably will not find a place to cash it without paying a fee.
A bank should cash a cashier's check, which is really a check issued by the bank itself to you. Similiar to a money order, the other person had to have given the bank the money before it issued a cashier's check.
A quick way, would be to go an open a new account with a bank using the cashier's check as your initial deposit. Then you can just write your own checks to pay your bills

Take it to the bank on which it is drawn. A cashier's check is NOT guaranteed funds; it could be counterfeit, have a stop payment placed on it, etc. The bank that issued the check is the only place that you can be CERTAIN that the check is good. Be prepared to have valid ID; likely 2 forms.

you do not say where the cashiers check came from. A bank? credit union? are required to honor their checks thou they will put a hold (no cash) on it to clear it. came from some one overseas or unknown to you.
suggest you call the home office of the cashier check - it the phone number is listed on check- and find out if it is valid-(not stole, fake, forged) before doing any thing with it.
should you cash it and it be bogus you will be arrested for passing bad paper.
visit clarkhoward.com and see the 'Bank op America' fake arrest piece.

That is a great deal of money to cash. Be certain to have many forms of Identification with you. Call ahead and be certain that they will cash the check for you.
Also, ask ahead of time...what is the Fee...The total fee.
Good Luck.

thats a hard one..., try asking a family member or friend if possible. a check cashing place would probably do it, but might require a waiting period. if you work, maybe your boss could help you out. ive done it for my employees. a bank would probably do it if you opened an account?? hope some of this helps.

Yes as long as you have a valid driver's license you can go to any "Check Cashing" store (will vary depending where u live) and they will charge you a pretty fee!

Find the address on the check and have that institution located and they will cash immediately with your ID.
