My husband just called me at work and our six month old son will not stop screaming. He will be ok when hes holding him but when he trys to lay him down after he falls asleep he wakes right up and starts screaming again and I mean like a high pitch screech. Could it just be him wanting to be held since hes ok when your holding him?

Did he just get shots, my daughter had a reaction like that after her shots. If so give him Tylenol, inform the doctor.

My son is 8 months old and still does that sometimes! It drives me crazy. One thing I have noticed is that if I lay him down and pat his back or bottom he will go back to bed. Also try wearing a baby backpack or baby sling thing, the ones that hold your baby close to you. I would do that with him when he was smaller and he would stay asleep because he was still right there smelling me and feeling held.
If it is gas then one thing you can try is laying him on his back and then bending his knees up towards his belly. This will help release the gas. My doctor told me to try it and it worked and still does work!
Good luck!

Sounds like colic...which is gas or air from being outside. Usually you can soothe babies with a car ride. But by some gas drops, it works almost immediately.

Tell him to try to burp the baby. Laying him down is causing pain which is usually gas.

Our son does the same thing,,,, I think it is cause he has colic. When we hold him it put some presure on his tummy making him feel better. I know what yall are feeling, its bad i know. We hold him and walk him and bounce him on our sholders. Some times patting him on his back helps, u know like burping him. I hope it gets better.

He could have colic, gas on the stomach which is very painful. You could try laying him on his stomach with his knees under him, or laying him across your lap while lightly patting his back.

It could be or it could be an ear infection. I know that they hurt a lot more when you lay down. Tell him to try tugging at his ear to see if that causes him to cry more. Don't worry though, maybe he just misses you!
