Nothing seems to work. It makes us crazy that we can not make him feel better. The script the dr gave us helps some but dang it, I can not stand to see him cry in pain.

Your baby might be suffering from acid reflux. Although the classic symptoms of reflux include vomitting, you can still have reflux without it. It's called 'silent reflux' then. I would return to the Pediatrician and tell him you want your son checked for it. You might have to visit a Pediatric GI specialist. The best medications for reflux are Reglan (to help empty the stomach and promote healing) and Zantac (to ease the pain). In the meantime, keep your son elevated as much as possible; especially after feeds. After a feeding, sit him up in his car seat for 45 minutes. Use a pillow UNDER his mattress to incline the head of it so he's not lying flat on his back. Keep him upright in a baby swing, or simply hold him. Those tips should help him out; at least somewhat. I hope you find answers for your son. I wish you the best of luck.

My son had it for nearly 4 months. Turned out it was bilateral Hernias. Once he had day surgery he was a different child. Have you had that checked. If that's not it, unfortunatly the only thing to do is wait. I HATED hearing that but there just isn't enough known about the problem and no medical help. I suggest A LOT of family support. Someone to spell you off for a while. The car sometimes helped. Pressure on the tummy. Heat on the tummy. Drops never worked for us. I even tried 5 different formulas. I did find a bassinet with a vibrating function also helped a tiny bit. My prayers are with you. Just take it one week at a time.

You need to understand that colic is defined as crying for no reason. Most "colic presciptions" treat gas pains, if it were gas pains it wouldn't be colic, it would be gas.

Samw with changes to your diet, that will only treat it if it is a food sensitivity, you could try it but it may or may not work.

Some moms find that chiropractic care can help, also Craniosacral therapy or Osteopathy.

I understand how hard it is, my baby crying makes me throw up. Eventually you will find what works or he will outgrow it.

Good Luck!

My son was very colic for the first nine months, we found some homoeopathic pill at the health food store, you dissolve it in an ounce of water, it helped for a little while. The Doctor told us to buy peppermint extract, put a couple of drops in water and feed
baby, my son gulped that up.

Things you can get at the pharmacy: Grip water, Oval... hmm, try
Cammomile tea i used it for my son.... Try laying him on his back and massaging his tummy, they teach you this in early childhood parenting... to rub the babies tummy in the way the food is digested and the way it goes through the body massage him with some baby oil... look it up on the net... it works!!

it sounds like he has more than just "colic" going on you should get a pediatric gi doc to look at him... there are a ton of things it could be...
mine did the same and ended up being severe food allergies and severe reflux... now he is on ellecare formula and prevacid....

not in any order

1. Gripe water with every feeding
2. Baby Mylacon
3. gentle rocking
4. tummy massage
5. turn him to one side and sushing in his ear (watch "happiest baby on the block" video for amazing calming techniques.)
6. lay him on your shoulder and rub his back, walk around.
7. try helping your baby burp

Infant Mylacon drops and constant motion helped mine. Vibration cushion in a chair while I was holding him.
