If cranberry sauce is really so great, why don't people eat it more often, like when it's not a holiday?

It's not hard to make after all, you just slide it out of a can!

Real cranberry sauce is not that stuff you "slide out of a can...." It's full of REAL cranberries and not like a lump of Jell-O.

If you have a chance try the REAL cranberry sauce, you'll be surprised how good it is and will have it more often!!

Try it with swedish meatballs, gravy and potatoes! Very Swedish. Delicious.

Enjoy! ☺

Here's some reasons:
-It's not very good for you (has a lot of sugar)
-They are only harvested between Halloween and Christmas
-It's not very filling, so it only seems right to eat it with a big meal like on Thanksgiving!

Also, cranberry sauce wasn't even eaten during the first thanksgiving because the sugar that is used to make the sauce was most likely not imported to the New World until later on.

Cranberry sauce when it isn't Thanksgiving? Ugh...

I think mostly it is so traditional that many have not had it other than at the holiday time. There are plenty of recipes for it (fresh or by the can) but it just doesn't seem right. Of course you've opened up the door mentally so that we can experiment and try it with a meal that doesn't consist of turkey and stuffing. :)

Cranberry sauce? Do you mean cranberry savor? Cranberry sauce is made via boiling total cranberries, sugar and water till the skins of the berries burst. this is then strained and allowed to relax. It gels from the organic pectin got here upon in the cranberries.

Because cranberry season coincides with the holidays i guess

Or because some people are not too fond of it but still eat it anyway since it's only around in the holidays and they dont' have to put up with it most of the year.

Cranberries are in season in and around the fall. So if people want the fresh stuff this is when to buy it.

I eat it at various times of the year. It's easy to make fresh, too.
