It's normal. Breastfed babies have less bowel movements than formula fed babies. But if the baby doesn't have one soon, talk to the baby's doctor.

As long as the baby does not seem to be in too much distress, the baby is probably fine. Often, breastfed babies will go up to a week without pooping, especially once they reach about a month old. Breastmilk is more easily digested by a baby, so, although it goes through the system more quickly, there is often VERY little or no matter left over to poop out.
My baby gets half breastmilk/half formula, and poops every 2-3 days.

Perfectly normal. Some breast fed babies have been known to hang on to it for as long as 4 weeks! Basically breastmilk is full of goodies and the baby's body is just trying to get as much out of it as possible. If it goes longer than 10 days and your friend is concerned, see a doctor. Just be prepared for that bowel movement, it will be lethal!

I suggest calling the doctor. First of all breastfeed babies DO poop more than formula babies not the other way around. Most breastfed babies poop everytime they eat! That baby is conspitated. My baby's doctor said anything over 2 days should be considered constipation. In a baby that little it could be caused by anything but its best to call the doctor or go see them to take care of the issue and make sure there isnt a major underlying problem. Which there probably isnt but its better to go in and help the baby get some relief

I totally agree with Karen B. It's normal for a bf baby to go up to 12 days without a BM. They are only eating good stuff, and don't need to get rid of it all. I would let it go past 10 days... if the baby is content and comfortable then I wouldn't worry about it. Just be prepared when it does happen..... have lots of wipes ready... :)

Have them go to the Dr but I have heard that sometimes it is common that kids don't poop for about a day. But for someone so little I would never leave anything to chance@!
