i've never really took the time to think about this, but now that i have i cannot resolve it =)

also, if i "tip-toed" while playing (if i was trying to make my pump fake more realistic), would i get called for a travel/ "up-n-down"? of course my toes wouldnt leave the floor, only my heels would.

what makes a layup acceptable.. or did they just come up with a rule that said layups are ok

In a layup you take ONE step..
You lift your leg the second time.
just remeber not to take two steps then lift your leg.
that IS a travel.
also if you pump fake DON'T JUMP!
that is a travel
if you lift you heels that's ok..
i see where your getting at with trying to make it more realistic

a travel is 3 steps not 4 and its not a travel

u might b called 4 up and down if u jump and ur feet hit the ground

its not a travel if you blatantly going for a lay up. but if you stopped and stop pivoting go off your pivot thats a travel
