I'm going to work at a local newspaper that is written by students for students. This is just work experience and I don't get paid for it. I have an interview where I will need to give them a sample of my writing in the span of half an hour and I'm nervous about it. I'm usually above average when it comes to writing but when put on the spot, my writing usually slips...a lot.

Any tips on how to impress them and how to keep my focus?

Remember that you have something to offer! It sounds like you are a great writer, so just concentrate on what you're doing, not on how it's going to be received. Jump in there, and have confidence in yourself, girl! Good luck!

Be friendly and assertive in the interview, being sure to stress all your best qualities. Use correct journalistic style--but with a creative twist--in your writing. Smile, have a firm handshake, and go into everything with an open mind and a positive attitude.
