Some one called my cellphone and they could hear it ringing. However, my cell phone never rang. What is a possible cause of this?

Well, let me add more clarrification.
My phone was on ring, and not on silent.

They say that the called me twice. Both times, they could hear it ring, however, my phone did NOT ring. On the third time, it did ring, and I picked it up.

Hope this helps a little bit more.

This **** happens to me all the time. I dont understand it. People will call me and leave me a voicemail and I will hear the voicemail alert but the phones never rings. I have alltel so I always though it was something to do with them...but I called them and they said I dropped my phone and it was screwed up or something. But even after I got a new phone it still does this. Im thinking its something to do with reception or something...who knows...

Do you have cingular?

This happens most often with them. In my opinion, they jumped the gun in integrating with the older AT&T network and should have made sure they could handle the onslought of calls that their users would generate.

If you don't have cingular then maybe you didn't have a strong enough signal on your side in order for the call to actually go through. If it happens often (which it shouldn't) you should call your wireless carrier.

the call did not go through (reception was bad.)

or, your cell phone was off or battery died.

your cell phone doesn't have to ring in order for them to hear it ring on their side.

your phone could have one of those new ring tones that only someone under 25 can hear. sounds crazy but its a huge fad with teenagers that may have downloaded it to your phone to drive you...well...crazy...
