where do NYU students usually transfer to?

They usually don't transfer. NYU is one of the schools that has a pretty high rate of returning students. Only a small % leave each year. And, having seen NYU I bet they transfer to somewhere out in the country where they can see some green grass once in a while. This is why you need to visit the campus of a school before you commit to it.
