I'm a native Texan, and I notice it when I listen to a home video when we're all talking. It's there, trust me. Be proud of it!!

It's a regional dilect you picked up from birth. Each region in the world has a dialect, something different that was created somewhere in the long line of Texas.

You don't hear it because you only know that accent. When you hear it on TV, you KNOW those people are from Texas. You pick up on the accent, especially when it's put against a non-Texas accent.

Everyone has an accent depending on where they have lived and how their family speaks.

With TV worldwide now, accents are slowly fading, since we listen to people from all over the world. If you live in a new area long enough, you will eventually talk like them.

I lived in Indiana for several years but I sounded like I was from Chicago because of the large black population. than I moved to Arizona, 23 years there took the Yankee out of me. People say I talk fast coming from Arizona, I don't know. Now I'm in Oklahoma but I really think I'm gonna stay with how I sound unless I marry someone here with a good ole boy accent.

Im from Texas too and I rarely notice it but I think its there. Its not as bad as the ones we see on tv but its there, even if slightly. When I visit family they point it out and I can see it in home videos. Thats ok though, I love Texas and am proud of it. The accent is just unique.
