a gigabyte, or GB is 2000KB
giga = million, kilo = thousand (kg=kilobyte)

K or Kilo in computers stands typically for a factor of 1024
G or Giga in computer stands typically for a factor of 1024^3 (or 124*1024*1024 or 1,073,741,824)

It can however also be used in the more conventional meaning of K=1000 and G=1000,000,000 (e.g. harddisk vendors use this more conventional manner)

So gigabyte is bigger, no doubt about it, however you twist or turn it.

2kb or 2kilobytes = (2x10 exponent of 3)bytes = 2000 bytes
gigabytes =(1x10 exponent of 9)bytes = 1000,000,000 bytes
