It goes for everyone. Everyone has an accent no matter where they are from. But you can usuall only here someones accent when you are talking with people who have different accents.
You can here bush because the other people on the news have different accents. It is only noticed when there is something different to campare to.
I am in Canberra, Australia. I have a slight North American accent, I can hear it in comparision to everyone around me, and they can to. Plus I can here how they sound different.
Our ears don't tend to notice what we are used to, we have to have that pointed out.

Everyone has an accent, they are usually regional. I have family from Texas and they have a Texas accent, but it is different from that of GB and Jessica. Most people base their perception of an accent on the Mid West accent...the one you most commonly hear on tv.

No matter where you go in the good old US of A, people talk different and say words that make others laugh. If you to to Boston, they talk one way, like a mouth full of hot oatmeal. You go down south, and they talk anouther. And yes, the difference between say, Georgia and Texas are obvious. Then go to California for a complete language lesson.
Sit back and look and listen to the people from the different areas. You can tell the words that are pronounced different, area to area

We are country, we are not City-Slickers. People from Alabama, New Orleans, New Mexico even Atlanta Speak Country. Why do we have an accent? To be honest i don't know. But i like the fact that it makes me different from these ******* in Miami.

The Texas and southern drawl or accent comes from the heavy immigration of Scott's-Irish settlers in the southern United States in the early days of colonial settlement. Bluegrass music which evolved into modern day country music also has its roots in the Scott's-Irish culture.
