And why does it bother anyone? Does a rainbow threaten you that much? Is not the fact you live in a society where EVERYTHING is HETEROcentric not enough for you that a rainbow flag bothers you? And if gays "advertising" is an issue for your sweet tender senses, then why the F**k do you come into a gay forum to testify?
Silly rant about a symbol, as if that had any impact on your life at all.
Grow up.

The rainbow is not just a symbol of gay pride; it is meant to embrace diversity in all its varied forms.
Straight people don't need a symbol, because pretty much everyone is assumed to be straight unless one gives others some reason to think otherwise.
As for "advertising," straight people do it all the time. They advertise their heterosexuality with engagement rings and marriage bands. They advertise their heterosexuality when they have pictures of the wife and kids on their desks at work. They advertise their heterosexuality whenever they hold hands with their sweeties in public or give them a kiss on the cheek.
But whenever a gay or lesbian person does the same thing, we are accused of "flaunting" our homosexuality!
If you would care to know more about the other privileges you enjoy merely for being straight, please click on the source URL I have provided below.
Seriously, check it out - unless you're afraid you might actually *learn* something?

The rainbow flag has grow to be between the most drastically used and known symbols of the gay delight circulation. the concept of the rainbow is hardly ever a clean one. Rainbows have used in view that historic cases in all sorts of cultures- Greek, African, community American and Celtic, to call purely some. Even Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition has made use of the rainbow has a freedom image. The Rainbow Flag as all of us recognize it on the prompt replaced into developed by San Francisco artist Gilbert Baker in 1978. on the time, there replaced right into a favor for a gay image which will be used three hundred and sixty 5 days after three hundred and sixty 5 days for the San Francisco gay and Lesbian delight Parade. Blue triangle?
The bi symbol is a blue and pink triangle interlocking to form a purple triangle. According that the pink represents attraction to the same sex and the blue attraction to the opposite sex. I've also seen the pink triangle used to represent homosexuality, true that it's a remnant of WWII but still the inversion of pink is blue and heterosexuality could be described as the inversion of homosexuality, so I guess a blue triangle. Hope that helped.

Gays reclaimed the pink triangle after the Germans used it to mark them for extermination. Which would be impossible since they don't bread other gays, Straights do that. The rainbow represents the acceptance of all people.

Actually, I don't happen to have a rainbow sticker on my car. Thanks for reminding me of this oversight. Tomorrow I must remember to rush out and get one.......
What is more, based on his answer above and some others I have noticed, if Mr. "Puffy" ever decides to issue a sticker I'll place it on my car as well. We need more of his sort.

Definitely the sexy lady silhouettes like you find on 95% of all tractor trailers and pick up trucks driven by straight guys. But don't forget the non-coordinated shoes and belt. Both can be a great symbol.

As well ask, "Why do Americans fly the Stars and Stripes?"... Every culture has some kind of symbol, and flying it ("advertising it") is a way of presenting solidarity. We are unified. We are one... ALL of us, since the rainbow represents a unity of diversity.
If you are offended, then follow one of your own tenets: "If thine eye offends thee, pluck it out".
Go Blind Yourself.

Why do the dull witted feel they should get huffy about what we use as symbols or not?
You are surrounded by straight symbols. What more do you want?
Geeze, we dont tell you not to live in trailer parks and say nothing about your fat, dull witted children, so let us have a stupid little rainbow.
