in a lot of animes they are based off the manga of course but there are a lot of changes from manga to anime version. Like in evangelion that dude toji dies in the manga instead getting injured or like in s-cry-ed a lot of characters are missing and others have different powers in the manga also some die in way different ways,GTOnizuka in the manga it goes way past the anime and i think Onizuka gets a brain tumor or something. People get married to other people stuff like that, sorry this is so long but can n e one think off the top of their head any changes like that, just curious.

in the TRIGUN manga In the manga vash and Knives had an older sister named Tessla. She was found by scientists, who experimented on and tortured her until she finally contracted cancer and died. The boys often saw her ghost on the ship. Vash and knives eventually see Tessla's dissected, corpse and causes Knives to fall into a coma and Vash pretty much went insane. When Vash discovered the humans had killed her, he tries to commit suicide with a knife, but rem stops him, almost getting herself in the process. Seeing Rem nearly die by his hand returns Vash to his senses. ALso wolfwood doesnt kill Zazie the beast in the manga.

oh yeah and as for s-cry-ed well kimishima doesnt die in the manga or ayase terada, they bot get married,Straight cougar gets executed by the watermelon dude Urizane for being a traitor i think, and then urizane commits suicide cause he had to be the one to kill cougar, and commander jigmars alter is the Crystalized form not the Alter Alias, and the kid Elian who is Jigmars cloned son is not in the manga at all. and yeah im getting tired of typing so hope that helps.

You want to know the differences between anime and manga?

When it goes into mainstream media, It goes mostly with the storyline, but they do make changes to some original scenes in manga, and modify it in the anime. It could be to appeal the viewers, but that's uncertain.

For example, in Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, the Starlights were originally women, but in the anime, their gender was changed to male. When they transform as Sailor Senshi, they're women.

Fruits Basket - Akito Sohma was originally a woman in the manga, but in the anime, they made her male.

The Sailor Moon Anime short of the original ending of the manga.

The Fruits Basket Anime doesn't exactly have an ending, so you would have to read the manga to see what other developments go on in the story.

To be honest, I wasn't sure what you were asking about, so I just posted what I thought you meant. Hope that was ok. ^^

PS- That first comment about Naruto is invalid. The "Believe It!" catchphrase was created for the English dub. It had nothing to do with the original anime version or the manga. "Kid friendly" anime doesn't really count because dialog and scenes are edited from its original format regardless.

I think even though manga is usually the source material, it is more of a supplement to what appears in the anime - sometimes the two are quite similar - Lunar Legend Tsukihime - and sometimes they are drastically different - such as Black Cat (the manga starts 2 years after Train leaves Chronos, the anime begins with him still in Chonos) I think the anime starts differently to set up the story at the beginning instead of having to keep unfolding it (as happens in the manga).
Another example is Pet Shop of Horrors - there is an anime of four episodes, but the manga series was ten volumes, each with four episodes, and goes into great detail about who the mysterious Count D really is.

In Naruto, Naruto says "Belive it!" all the time. So far he has said that zero times in the manga.
