Why is it that when Whites call Blacks, "*******," they are called terrible racists, but when Blacks call Whites "crackers" noone objects? I think both comments are racist and both parties should be held accountable for using that kind of language (and that includes Black people). Anyone agree?

I don't really understand why so much attention is focused on a word. It's a WORD! For those who don't think it should ever be used unless you have the right skin tone, you are just empowering those who would use the word to belittle and denigrate you.

Either everybody uses a word or nobody uses it. Period. Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it but those who live in the past can't move towards their future.

This whole classification of who has "****** privileges" is stupid. "Ok...you can use it...and you, you're fine....ummm, hell no, not you honky....you can use it...and you too....not you...your mom's black, but your dad's white, so you can only say it on Monday, Wednesday, and every other Friday....you're Black, but damn you are LIGHT, so you can say it but only to other light-skinned Blacks"....on and on and on.....DUMB!

I find the "N" word to be totally offensive! But why is that blacks can call each other that name, and it's perfectly fine? It's an ugly word and no one should use it.
As for "crackers"..... I have no idea where it came from or why it became a racist word. If I were called a "cracker", I'd probably just end up wondering what kind of cracker they think I am! Ya know, people can call each other anything and turn perfectly normal, everyday words into slurs (look at the word "gay"... now it's cracker?) And just because someone chooses to hold up a certain finger, it's horrible and could get you in a whole heap of trouble?
I know..... words hurt..... but for crying out loud, isn't it about time someone out there quit being so thin-skinned and stopped reacting to these things?

I agree, and when I was called a cracker, I didn't mind. I have been called a white bi---. That sort of hurt my feelings, especially when I didn't deserve it. I was not offending anyone and just happened to get caught in the cross fire. I got shot in the heart. But a cracker I can tolerate. I love Crackers !!

i guess it's because the word "cracker" isn't AS derogatory as the other word.

call a white guy "cracker" and you'll get, "Yeah, so what?" it just doesn't get most white guys blood boiling.

Being "held accountable" is fine in school or on the job for being rude. Otherwise, it's just words-it's up to PEOPLE to react or not react.

First of cracker is sooo old that's what George Jefferson said on the Jefferson . But either way I don't think it's as bad as being called a Ni**er. If White people don't like maybe that should defend themselves just like Black people do.

Racist remarks are always wrong, no matter who says it. Everyone doesn't agree with this, but then not everyone sees the big picture.

What about when a black person calls another black person, "******"? What's the difference?

No one uses racist language in my presence without me saying something and then shutting them out of my life. I do not hang with bigots.

Best Wishes,

Sue

I agree racial name calling is harmful to any color. However, due to the fact that African Americans have been through slavery and white people haven't and they wasn't whipped while being called cracker-while we have been whipped and called ******! That is why calling us that name is like asking your fate because of our history. I still don't think name calling is right but for us to call someone a name, usually we are provoked.

I think it is everyone's responsibility to not offend your fellow man. Name calling and racial slurs are extremely ugly, and ignorant. I also think that ALL AMERICANS should be responsible for what they say (which is to include blacks dropping the N-bomb.) Our country is at war and all we can do is stay divided by RACE!!!? We all should be uniting during this time of crisis. Our American people are over there getting killed!!!! There are so much more important things to be debating in this country. FYI: If they bring back the draft... It won't matter what your race is. The war is ongoing and RED BLOOD is being shed by AMERICAN SOLDIERS daily!!!!! Death dosen't discriminate!!!

Ask the staff at Y/A. They seem to be the experts around here.
They delete posts with "n" in it but, not any other derogatory term.
Who finds "that" offensive?
