What operation system is it, it depends, because some OS's are outdated. If it is an XP it would be worth it, a 2000 pro is also decent, but is not really up to date still it could be gotten also. Donot get anything more outdated than 2000. (like ME, 98, 95) But you can also get a Dell computer brand new with a XP OS on it, for around 369.00 plus 20 to 30 dollar rebate. And these computers are just as good. Your choice.
Good Luck

There are several different models of a8n asus. I don't think your friend will be losing any money. Here are prices for new parts.

AMD 3200+ 64bit processor - $66.00

That's a good computer if you ask me. 114 GB is a lot. My computer is about a year old, and I bought a pretty top notch one, but it's 80GB. 1GB of Ram is greight too. Most people only have 256 or 512KB.

If its a notebook, its awesome!
If its a desktop and comes with LCD, its very good deal.
If its just a CPU tower, its no big deal.
