The answer you're probably looking for is that the one on the back faces out. When there is only one fan you want to blow the hot air out.

The real answer is that depends on which fan and your system. My case at home has a fan on the front bottom (which blows in) and one on the back top which blows out. Thus it creates an airflow from front to back through the system. Keeping new, cool air constantly moving through the system is the whole point.

Depends on where the fan is placed. Typically a fan located at the front of the case, the fan should be placed to suck air into the case. The fan at the back of the case should be blowing the air out of the case.

If you have a fan on the side, it could either blow fresh air in or blow the hot air out depending on where the fan is located. If you have a fan on the top of the case, it should be set to blow the hot air out of the case.

the side with the wires go inside the computer and the place where you see the fan should face outside where you should be able to see it when you put your computer back together
