Question on calculators?

what is this ^ what does it do?

My teacher has a TI-82 calculator and she was explaining how to do a problem and she kept saying carrot which is this ^ but on my calculator (TI-30xA) it doesn't have the carrot

Please someone help!!!!!!

Your will have Yx (Y to the power x)

The answer above this one is correct.

Maybe your calc won't do exponentiation. Or some calculators use

a**b to mean a^b.

I couldn't find the TI-82 at TI's website!
