My mom is calling me like I have a clue. So can you give a lower dose of dog flea drops on cats? Both are grown. The dog only weighs about 8lbs. So he is not much bigger than the cat. Any help would be great.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Most dog flea drops have chemicals n them that are toxic to cats, and can kill them! Tell your Mom not to use them-- if she still has the package directions, they will say that. If she has already applied them, tell her to bathe the cat in Dawn dish washing detergent, and take the cat to an emergency room if he shows any clinical signs (drooling, twitching, vomiting, etc) Most of the over the counter flea drops have ingredients that can be toxic to cats even when applied correctly. See your vet for some advantage or frontline. Good Luck!!

The ONLY flea drops that can be used that are for dogs on cats is either frontline or advantage. the only problem is the dosing is different. otherwise most products for dogs if used on cats can be toxic and kill your cat. so check with your vet would be your best bet. good luck

Don't give the flea drops to your cat. The flea drops are formulated for dogs not cats. And if you do, your cat will get sick or something.

Never give a cat anything formulated for a dog. Go to the pet store and buy stuff made for cats. The cat could become very sick

No that would not be smart. cats and dogs are two different things and to give a cat something made for a dog could maker her/him deathly sick even if the dog is small its still for a dog get the cat dropps don't give it a bath cuz it could lick the stuff off and get deathly sick as well (happened to my friends cat) tell her to just go to the pet store and get cat meds

The best bet would be to call a vet and ask. I know that many of the drops that are sold at vets' offices are generic in terms of what type of animal can use them, but a vet (or even the receptionist at the vet's office) would know if the specific type of drop you have is safe for cats, and how much of a dose to give them.

NO NO NO

Dog flea medication can acutally poison cats.

Suggest she pick up some cat formula in the morning.

No, you can't. Giving a dog's flea or tick medicine to a cat could result in sickness or death for the cat. Don't risk it.

It's like giving monkey medicine to humans
