What would you have done differently in your life? This is an example of a list I found at a blog:
If I had to do it all over again I would have:

* Learned several languages.
* Not spent so much time in post-graduate studies.
* Not spent so much time on my career.
* Purchased a house right after I graduated.
* Listened more to my father.
* Come out in high school.
* Taken a year off to travel before I got my masters.
* Continued the piano lessons.
* Started working in the not-for-profit world earlier in my career.
* Not let those ******* kids make me believe how ugly I was.
* Stayed closer to my family.
* Allowed that artist to draw me nude when I had the chance.
* Played more sports in high school just to make friends.
* Worked out harder.
* Not be so scared of what people think of me.
* Discovered my fetishes earlier than 30.
* Spent more time naked.
* Spent money on something other than that stupid car.
* Researched before I acted.
* Not shaved my ******* head cause I miss my long hair.

This is incredibly loaded and thoughtful question for a 16 year old! Hopefully you truly do take some of the advice. As for me, thus far, I would have volunteered more with animals when I had the time, I would have spoken out when I knew something was wrong ratehr than waiting for someone else to do it (luckily I still have plenty of time to do this), I would have asked for help when I needed it (this too), I would've gone abroad for a semester of college, or worked abroad before settling down, I would have waited before buying my first house and done some more research on home ownership, I would have listened more to my parents and tried to gracefully accept the advice (I do this quite a bit more now, but probably not nearly enough), and there's other things if I think about it long enough. I mostly wish I had spent at least a solid month in another country and culture, whether or not it was a different language there. I think a semester abroad would have been amazing. Give it some consideration!

Oooh... this is a great question! Let's see. I would have:

> Told someone earlier about the abuse
> Not quit school
> Gone to college to be the librarian I wanted to be
> Been happy in my own skin sooner
> Studied German more fully
> Not let that 'one' get away
> Forgiven dad before his last year
> Researched religion earlier in life so I could make
an informed decision sooner
> Not even asked my brothers for help with mom
> Tried harder to preserve my credit

And the really good part? There's lots of things on here I can change NOW!! I don't have to let them stay undone and in the past.. I can use this list as a to-do list! :)

That's one heck of a long list!
Well, i'm 28 and have done most the things i've set out to do, so i'll give you a list of the things i'm glad I did - which may give you some tips as i've not really regretted much in my life:
*i've travelled to many fun and exotic countries,
*ive not married young but had lots of fun instead and met heaps of interesting people.
* i've not had children too young but enjoyed only having to worry about myself which is what being youthful should be about.
* i've worked hard when i've had to, and saved lots of money - which has meant ive able to take time off for a few months and not worry about money - which has meant ive been able to do the things i want.
* ive learnt valuable skills that i can fall back on (i.e nursing)
* ive got qualifications.
I may not have a house yet but plan to next year (with my fiance). So i dont really regret anything! - i believe in living in the moment and planning for your future once in your late-20's.. enjoy being young while you still are!

If I could do it all over again:
I would finish college
Be more health conscious
Develop a relationship with my dad
Told my mother not to disown my brother,father and I
Told my grandmother that my uncle was a pervert and molested me in his car
Told my father I was raped by a co worker - that's why I quit my job
Would have filed rape charges
Would have never drank my juice after I left it unopened in the presence of the co worker that raped me
Would have told my father one of his girlfriends cousins kissed me and tried to sleep with me when I was 18
Told my brother that his first love was a slut and gold digger
Would have saved money to buy a house
Would have saved money to buy a car
Would have ignored the idiot doctors that told me my cyst would go away and gotten surgery
Would have been prepared to welcome my first child into this world
Would have never been stressed out - therefore would not have lost my first born child
Would not have worked at a laundromat folding peoples filthy clothes
Would not have stolen from my aunt
Would have been more outgoing
Would have been more social
Would have hit my ex boyfriend when he held me down and let his friends try to have sex with me
Would have stood up to my ex and told him that I hated him.
On... and On... and On...
Alas, it doesn't matter - everything happens for a reason.

Chosen a better career and spent more time in college! Been a better lover! Loved more people (emotionally).

Been a less hairy Sasquatch! But, by definition, I guess we are supposed to be hairy!

I probably would not have made the same mistakes, but might still make others. Since we are human we are bound to make mistakes no matter what. We would like to do everything perfectly, and without any problems resulting from our actions and choices in life, but we STILL would make mistakes! Its just inevitable.

I would have gone to a good college and had a education before getting married. That way, when the bum left, I would have had my own income instead of having no job, no education, and two children to support.

Quite an impressive list. I'd only add one thing
- to listen more and speak less.

I would have NEVER let people tell me what to do or have let them try to change me......it took me over 30 years to gain my own self-esteem and personality, but I did it.....great question!!
