introversion is a temperament. it's inbuild and cannot be changed. It makes up the special you. Introverted people gain their energy from their own, complexed inner world, and tend to feel exhausted when they have to interact A LOT with people. (exrtoverted people gain their energy from the people around them)Whereas shyness is a form of anxiety. It's when you worry about what people will think, say or do about you if you do something. It's a symptom caused by many many factors, while Introversion is JUST YOU.

There's a fine line, maybe.

Introversion and shyness both involve a tendency to prefer being by oneself or with a smaller group of familiar people.
Shyness may be part of introversion, but introversion has a richer scope, with more traits under it, like being less impulsive, being more attuned to the depth of the self (feelings, thoughts, self-awareness) and enjoyment of experience by oneself, etc. "Introversion" is also the more studied personality trait, along with "extraversion," and may be considered the more scientific/psychological rather than layman term.

Shy people want to be extroverted but can't, because they are too self conscious. Introverted people are happy just where they are
