There are a variety of shoe sizes. Average is B size. A is narrow. E is wide and EE is a little wider. I had a heck of a time finding shoes for daughter when she was 9 month old who was walking. She has a foot like her dads. I had one she salesman tell me my child's foot was deformed. We looked in San Diego, CA, National City, and found finally found a store that specialized in infants unusual sizes. She wore a
4 1/2 EEEE The shoe looked as wide as it was long. My other children had wide feet to but not like this little one. Her foot looked like a tennis ball with toes. She still has wide feet but they are very very normal. My youngest son the same way. Now are shoe salesmen a little slow. When my son was 16 and I was looking for dress shoes for him the man brought me a wide. I told him its not going to fit. So he procedes to put the shoe on my 16 year old and my son stood up and tore all the seams out in the shoe. I just shook my head and we went to a store that had wide shoes and a bit pricie to get these children shod. Now my oldest son has a narrow foot like me. 2 with narrow, 4 with wide. Always a problem finding shoes that fit.

I never put shoes on them until they started walking.

Never fed them food until they had teeth. The digestives juices changes at that time the teeth come in.

My two younger children both started out in "EE" shoes, which indicated double wide. Don't worry, it does not mean that they will wear wide shoes forever, but, that their feet are wider now.

BTW, most children are sized for extra wide only in shoes that are intended for walkers.
