Compromise in what way? I don't think he'll change Catholic doctrine for them.
I don't recall him saying anything intolerant. He is an intellectual and chooses his words carefully.
Perhaps he can find some common ground (as distinguished from middle ground, which is what a compromise is).
Benedict XVI/Ratzinger is not known for backing down or soft-pedaling his views.
As John Paul II personified love and inclusiveness, I expect that Benedict XVI will personify courage and firmness. The times are going to require this.
His trip to Turkey in the face of death threats is an expression of his courage. It also incorporates the love and inclusiveness contributed by his predecessor.

If he feels that he was affected by politicans or media,why not compromising with Islamists?
