It sounds like shingles, tell her not to ich them. She need to go to the doc they will give her pain pills, and an antibiotic. They are very painful and not contagious. It is said to be a reoccurance of chickenpox. It usually occurs in older people and is brought on by stress. It will take about a week to go away and can come back.

Sounds like shingles, did she have any exposure to anyone with chickenpox or shingles? Did she have any injury or shot recently? Those things can bring them on, as well as stress. The dr can prescribe medicines to help, acyclovir is one of them. Shingles do take a long time to go away and can leave permanent damage, medications help. treatment is believed to reduce the risk of postherpetic neuralgia and may speed up the healing process. Other treatments for post-herpetic neuralgia include steroids, antidepressants, anticonvulsants, and topical agents. Scientists continue to work toward developing newer antiviral agents and more effective pain killers. Some doctors prescribe lidocaine patches to put directly on the areas affected after the blisters are healed, some pain may be lifelong damage unfortunately.

Yes, there is a condition called shingles. It is related to chicken pox. It can be bad or it can be very simple. I assume the doctor gave her prescriptions for a couple of medications. If not see a doctor and get meds. I had this one time - not very bad; I guess because I went to the doctor the very day I noticed it. Medication worked wonders and it went away in just couple of so days. Others have a really hard time getting rid of it and have it in compromising locations or spread over large areas. Apparently it lies latent in the system from the time you had the chicken pox and actually never goes completely away. But will be inactive for years. Don't worry it is not a terrible disease or anything but does need immediate attention for best results and prevention of any complications.

I think that's the most time anyone has said or typed some form of the word serious in a paragraph. I seriously think you deserve an award.
