inviting them to a party where the Bird Flu was going around infecting everyone. I mean, when you are in MLM, you don't mean any hard, but ultimately it infects everyone and some people nearly lose it all. And additionally, those you invited on the premise of the party end up never talking to you again..and the only people you still get along with are those who are also totally infected thus quarantined (just like the person in MLM who only associates with other people in MLM)?

Oh, I think its pretty much the same.

Anyone have any other accurate analogies for MLM?

Being in mlm is like being under an oppresive communist regime. You are brainwashed into believe the system you are in is the "best", but really only the Stallins of the organization (those that are making money of off selling tapes and charging ridiculous fees for pump up sessions) are getting rich.

God speed.

Most if not all people fail at Multi Level Marketing and that is because it is all in the math. A MLM business comes along with a lot of hype and for the most part no scientific evidence. They inflate the importance of the product usually saying it's exclusive to them or they have some proprietary method to produce it until the company dies away when the huge supply of customers and salespeople are finally exhausted.

Take "Mexico4Me" for an example; if he/she was really making so much money pushing Himalayan Goji at $46.50 per bottle, do you really think he/she would have spent the time to write 848 Yahoo Answers?

The MLM business takes advantage of people and their wallets. Why would I want to buy a reconstituted Goji juice that has preservatives in it for $46.50 when I can buy a better product at Natural Styles for $18.95?

You peel away the MLM rhetoric and misinformation what do you really have? A short-lived company.

MLM is the same as any business if...

...you have to find other people to start working before you get paid (lol)

...you get paid an income but have to give all of it back buying tapes from your boss (lol)

...you are moronic/naive enough to think that setting up competition right next door, down the street, every possible place is a good idea.

MLMers never get it.

As for an analogy:

MLM is like having a massive head wound in the back of your head. Everyone looks at you with disbelief that you actually continue to go on, yet you have no idea and think that everything is just right. You also buy lots of material from your upline (i mean doctor) who tells you that you are headed in the right direction, stay the course, don't listen to those telling you that you need help.

Yeah, MLM is also like a really good joke, only those in MLM don't get it, and have no idea the joke is on them.

MLM is like any other busienss...priceless!

(Mexico4me will come in here ranting yet won't ever address the flaws...also priceless!)

Some MLM programs work. You have to be careful which ones you get into. Ideally you have the money to pay for qualified emails, a web site of your own, a domain, and search engine optimization. Maybe $500 to get started. All of these things are not required if you are willing to work hard and have it take longer.. Get hooked up with a reputable company that has been around for a while. One that pays you for your downstream only if you sell stuff directly to customers. You will be building residuals. Don't tell anyone that gets involved that it's going to be easy or that they are going to get rich quick. Sell something that you enjoy selling. It will take 3 months usually before you see anything and six months before you make any kind of money if you work really hard.

For the record people, SmartGuy7, aka Marcello has a rather biased opinion about a business he failed at. And obviously failed miserably!! lol

If anyone wants an accurate analogy about MLM, from a successful Network Marketer, feel free to IM me. I would be happy to give you a positive slant on what can be a very lucrative, alternate way of marketing.

Newsflash! No one buys tapes from their uplines in this day and age, people who still think that, need to be told that they have sound in the theatres now too!

MLM is a business form. just like any other form of business. Now you will lose your friends and family if you do not know what you are doing, you must know what company and the structure, people want to see YOU as your company and product. So if you are not knowladgable enough... then your family will see your lack of expertices in your eyes and feel it in your voice. One must know about the business as much as possible in order to make a living, the right analogies would be only one
Believe in Yourself,
Not just what Upline told you to do, one must know what they are doing, and what you are doing...
Talk with your family with knowladge and belif. Things will be Change. Thanks

Multi Level Marketing, or Network Marketing is a business. Not unlike opening a restaurant or a construction company. If you convince your family to invest with you in opening up a pizza place, and you're terrible at the pizza business, and they're terrible too, you'll all lose your investment. And if you tricked them into it, or lied about it, then they'll rightfully be pretty angry at you.

To build a successful MLM business, don't trick people in and don't lie to people to get them in. I am a USANA distributor, and I want people who, after hearing the reality of it do want in. They'll neither quit or be angry at me if growth is slow.
