Ohio - Names after the traditional Indian greeting.
Florida - Named after Chief Barking Dog's Great Aunt Flo.
Arkansas - Named after the method Indians used to make a special type of canoe called an ark.
Wisconsin - Named after the great Indian warrior Consin. He is reported to have had the strength of 5 bison and the eyes of an eagle. The are no surviving records as to how he was hung.
Alabama - In ancient Indian comic books, BAM was a form of onomatopoeia used to convey the sound of a tepee falling over.
Louisiana - Not named after an Indian, but rather named to insult them. In the dialect of wampum Indians, Louisiana means lousy Indians.
The Carolinas - Similar to Louisiana in the sense that it was named to defame rather than honor Indians. So named because Indians had to "carry" all their stuff and get the hell out.
Indiana - While it seems to be named after Indians, the name actually came about because people in Indiana really like Indie music. They like it a real lot.
