end of day barbie is a doll, since when has a doll done any harm, i mean apart from chuckie and his bride???

Barbie is just a doll, but the message sent by her clothes can be a problem. My mother-in-law had a hard time finding one dressed appropriately when she was picking one out for my daughter, and no, she's not a religious person. According to her, they all looked like they were dressed to go streetwalking. So I can't say Barbie is good for kids....

This question always makes me laugh when its brought up. People think its so bad for girls to have barbies because of the "image" it gives. If I had kids, I wouldn't think twice about giving them barbies - maybe its a GOOD thing to give girls the impression that they shouldn't grow up obese, since its such a huge problem in the States.

Barbie is bad for kids. I have a question of my own: Is Barbie the modern Venus? She is the picture of beauty, privilege, sexual appeal. Do they have a High Priestess Barbie? Something in a pink toga, tiara, scepter, and Romanesque accessories.

I think Barbie is good ...... I had tons of them and I never saw Barbie as the ideal look I wanted to be or that I would want hundreds of boys.
It was just a fun doll to pretend with how adult life could be. As kids you always want to act grown up.
It good for the imagination, creativity, social skills kids need that more than they need video games.

Whether or not Barbie is good is affected by how you or people around your child react to Barbies. Barbies in themselves are just a play-thing, adults turn them into icons that stand for sexism, and so on.

Metel's barbie is always Good for the kids those who used to collect it and display as they grow (especially girls).Barbie is just like a mentor for young kids,they do understand what Barbie is wearing,playing-studying and act like her.

i think its a nice toy to play with, but it's bad for the little kids.
just the other day, my niece was telling me she wants "long yellow hair like the barbie" , and she is in pre-k! however, i think she probably will think differently in a few years.

I think Barbie is bad because she
A) makes kids think they need to be perfect
and
B) she has like a ton of boyfriends and kids
No little girl should have to have THAT as a role model/toy.

idk my favorite pasttime was pulling the heads off of the barbies... and im perfectly normal.... i think

its barbie.... i played with barbies until i was 10 and i have no uge to be blond or anorexic, but then a lot of other girls want to be exactly like barbie. i guess it just depends on the amount of self esteem the girl has who is playing with barbie

While Barbie's shape is unrealistic, I don't believe girls playing with her is harmful. I made clothes for my daughter's barbie and we played together.
