true enough records are no longer popular anymore thanks to digital RECORDing. But for over 50 years an album was always called a record. Just because the technology has changed doesn't mean the idea behind it has.

Believe it or not, some people actually like to hear the hissing and crackling of an old vinyl under the diamond needle, sorry but it's true.

a record is just simply a recording and anything can be a record as long as it is recording something.

Now grow up and stop making fun of your momma's world.

It is short for recording. People since the dawn of the recording age have called them recordings, or records for short. Yes they (vinyl records) aren't made that often, but they still are RECORDS or a recording of a song.

Records are still made. I listen to them a lot. The new ones are a little pricey, but the good old classic ones cost less than $10. I enjoy records, they sound real and not slick and fake.

We can't get the word out of our minds I think we were so used to hearing it and it was such a big part of american music, We've got a record deal...he won a gold record.....etc..It does seem silly when CD s are the thing now and so much better than record albums...

No CDs. information, 45s, 78s. some creditors have them. I bought 250, 45s from 1950, in the 90s. I definitely have them on tape. the vast "CDs" had yet another call. ???? movies in the 80s. basically creditors could have those now.

People probably get the term record from their parents, who listened to the actual records in the 70's. What your parents say is very influencial on what you say.

Because now everyone is into ipod and other MP3player and cds are like "back in my day" kind of things. Like when parents say "back in my day" for the vinyl records....
