Foreign policy is obviously very complex.

We can try and analyze the outcomes of certain events, but the human factor keeps screwing up the equation.

We have learned from past experience that "the enemy of our enemy" isn't necessarily our friend. Hopefully, we don't make that error again.

I don't seriously believe anyone is trying to "erase and derail the past." There will always be an abundance of criticism from the 'after the fact' arm chair quarterbacks - only to find out that with a small amount of research - the damn fool probably was supporting the very policy he now criticizes.

Oh, yes. I could list a few pages.
Saddam

Biological warfare against Native Americans w/smallpox infected blankets
Assasination of Allende in Chile
Guns for oil through Iran to sponsor a private army in Nicaragua.
Training of foreign death squads
Noriega in Panama

That's enough for a start.

Are you suggesting that the US had absolute control over all the organizations we participated with or contributed to? What bothers me is: This is the thinking of blame America first.

Every since the end of WWII the USA has trained, equipped and financed many terrorist groups and individuals including death squads in Latin America, corrupt dictatorships in Africa and to their eternal shame, Bin Laden and his buddies during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

Sad to say, the phrase "You reap what you sow" springs to mind.

Sure. Roosevelt's grandson contributed to the fall of Mossedegh; Bush Sr. was involved in feeding Saddam WMD for years. Let's not forget drug lords in Columbia, shall we? And we wonder why other countries hate us?

I guess that's why Menachem Begin isn't a dear topic to every Jew under the sun. An old hand at it.

Please give details of your accusations. Including sources that can be referenced and credited. A one time friend can be changed into an enemy if the political situation changes in a country. Are you suggesting we should be isolationists in the US?
