i want to heat a helium balloon to make it even lighter. will a flame burn within a balloon full of helium? i know helium is not flamable, but would a gas like hydrogen from a burner burn within a balloon of helium if oxygen is not present? how can i super heat helium?

No. Combustion occurs b/c something reacts with oxygen. So unless the helium is contaminated with oxygen, no combustion can take place.

well most likely the balloon will melt or pop. You can really "super heat helium" and heat may not even make it lighter. If you want to try to heat the helium, you can try, it will be difficult, submerging the balloon in hot water, that should heat up the interior of the balloon.

No. Helium will smother the flame. You need a source of oxygen. You could heat up the He by running it through a coil of copper tubing placed over a burner.

surely it can't burn
because there is only helium inside the balloon, and helium is not flamable
