I'm not sure where you live but it is due to copyright laws. Record companies and artists own their respective music. Notice you use the word 'stealing' not downloading or sharing. Stealing is a crime. Piracy also negatively affects the music industry. MPAA says 3.5 billion worth of music have been pirated in a year. I don't know the punishment if caught personally, I guess it is depends on your jurisdiction. Usually it's private companies that prosecute though.

There are copyright laws that you break every time you download illegal music. Just imagine how you'd feel if you wrote a song and everyone stole it and you didn't get your money for it. Puts it into perspective a little bit, doesn't it? The singers aren't the only ones who get paid from a record. In fact, the artists make very little money from sales of CD's. Most of their big money comes from concerts. So, when you steal music you are hurting the 'little man' a lot more than anyone else and you should be prosecuted for it. The law is the law!!!

Yes, it's a theft of copy righted material.

You see, that how musicians make their money. They write songs and sell them. If people keep stealing music, then the music industry will crash because they will get tired of having there profits taken.

Which means, that if you want to hear music, you'll have to go to a church and listen to the choir! To you want the world to come to that?
