My PC shuts itself down shortly after startup. Windows XP.

Tried system restore - doesn't work
Tried closing down newly added programs in msconfig - no deal
It is not a dell - IBM
Any other ideas?

I can fix your computer but I will need a hell of alot more information. So your computer will boot up to xp and then shutdown for no reason. How does it shut down? Does it say "windows is shutting down" and then turn off? Try and be as detailed as possible and then I will be able to help you fix your problem.

open it up and remove any pci cards (except for video) and boot it up. See if it craps out. If not, run windows xp in diagnostic mode (f8) when you are botting up. Create a bootlog while it rebooots and when it craps the last thing in the list will tell you what is crapping out on you...

when you restart your pc there is an option either F8 or F10 depending on your PC when you hit the button you will be prompted to restart in Safe mode do that and then go to control panel/administrative tools/ event viewer in there you will find a list of the program that caused the crash, delete it
