You can buy a TMobile phone, but will have to pay the full retail cost of the phone.... which is usually $130-$150 more than they offer in store or online, and you will not get the mail in rebates with the phone. You will also have to request that the phone comes "unlocked" for other wireless carriers. If the phone is not unlocked, you will not be able to put your Cingular SIM in it... well, you will, but the phone will not work. The phone's SIM reader has to be unblocked.

why in the heck would you want to keep cingular? they are nothing but ripoffs and are one of the most expensive cell phone companies out there.

Yeah all you would need is the sim card. the service follows the sim card.
