Probably so, although this is not nothing new, this has been going on for years all across the world, shouldn't these companies do more thorough checks? Why report her? This is your child's mom if she goes to jail are you prepared to take on the responsibility of raising your child 27/7, at 3 yrs old this is not a big issue, the child can dispute anything on their credit file that was opened while the child was underage and it will be removed, supposingly it should drop of in 7 to 8 years anyway, if not "what" the child have like 15 years to even apply for credit, leave her alone, what problem is it causing you right now, just knowing it? This is not a life or death situation, and using your child's name to get cable don't make her a bad mom, maybe she's experienced some financial problems before, and can't go back and fix that, don't turn the cable off because I guaranty you your child watches it faithfully. Peace out and good luck with your decision and remember your child needs both of you.

Tell your ex that she has 30 days to take the child's name OFF of the account or you are going to turn her in by calling the cable company & telling them what she is doing. She won't die without cable & neither will your child. If it really bothers you, then have the cable put in your name & pay for it so that your child can at least have Basic Cable. Once a parent starts to use their childs name & social security number for bills that they cannot pay for themselves, the next step is to just let those bills continue to add up because they assume that their child will not be help liable. Since the child is in the care & custody of a parent, that parent MUST pay all expenses incurred while that child is under their care & supervision. Parents can actually loose custody of their children by doing things like this. This shows SEVERE lack of judgement on her part. She should know better than to listen to a contractor.

Yes!! it is fraud and theft by deception, she must have given your child's Social Security number to the cable company and that would be a crime. Most Cable companies will not care if the bill is being paid and they will cut off service if not. With the exorbitant prices the Cable companies charge they never lose money because they do not allow an account to become very delinquent.

yes it is fraud, you need to notify the cable company give them your childs name and take any proof of her age that you have and her social security number if you have it. Go there and tell them you want it stopped and her charged. You may also want to keep an eye on phone companies, electric companies water companies etc, people do this a lot and it is only ruining there childs credit and when they grow up they already have high bills.

I believe it would be considered identity theft. If she can't get it in her own name, she no doubt owes the company money. In all likelihood she will also run up an unpaid bill in the child's name, too. I think these parents who think nothing of ruining a child's credit should have the children taken from them for abuse. It may not be physical, mental, but when the kids are grown and can't get a pot to piss in because of irresponsible parents, it is definitely emotional abuse.

Well,it's wrong and parents are irresponsible when it comes to putting theirchild's name...but some do actually care about their children's future and continue to pay on the internet or cable... so if your a person who will pay it its ok but then it's not,,.because it is fraudulent

It's time to turn your ex in. There are a surprising number of kids who grow up and find they can't get credit because a relative has trashed their reputation by applying for credit and defaulting in the child's name. It's identity theft.
