His venture was to raid the Spanish ships bringing jewels, goods and precious metals back from the Americas, specifically Peru and Mexico.

He eventually went right round the world, the meantime claiming a piece of Northern California for the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth I, She made him a knight for invading Spanish Colonies over here in America. By her doing this, it made the Spanish king upset and this made him attack England. The other reason he didn't like her was, she was protestant.
