ninjas, they're stealthier, and kill you for their clients. pirates on teh other hand go arr, then kill you, and also they kill for personal gain.

Ninjas. They are trained to be perfect at what they do. I'm sure ninjas don't lose as many eyes, legs, and arms as pirates do either. Pirates seem to have a shorter life span.

Pirates. ninjas see a lot of sword play, but pirates had to stare down canons at 50 feet or less in hundreds of feet of water in the middle of nowhere, as well as fight with swords and daggers and swing from masts. I don't think ninjas had to walk the plank or get keel hauled either. Pirates were one tough bunch.
