Why is it ok for a man to have a wife and one or more mistresses in western culture, but polygamy is banned? Isn't it more respect for a woman to be a mans wife. Why do people look down on polygamy, but the divorce rate is so high in this culture and the reason for most marriages are infidelity. Maybe the man still loves his first wife, but falls in love with another woman too. Polygamy would solve this. There are also more men than women in the world. Polygamy would allow the other women who would otherwise remain single to get married. What is your opinion?

I dont think that "western culture" says that it is ok for a man to have and wife and a mistress. Ask any wife. Also if a married man falls in love with someone else he is just not commited to working on one relationship, he would rather play with many. Marriage is not a toy and men (or should I say married ppl) have to give up alot, such as seeing other ppl or suddenly changing their mind!

I always thought there were more women in the world. Are you sure about that? Where did you get that statistic? Also, I'm pretty sure that in Western culture having a mistress when you're married is not OK. Or else I'm waaay out of touch with Western culture.

Since when was this considered "okay" in "western culture?"

Well.. as a guy there are obvious benefits... nothing i couldn't live without. but i dunno. there have been times in my life where i've been with three diffrent women that had no idea about each other..(teenage years only nothing bad since i hit 19>) i honestly couldn't decide between them. but personalities conflict especially when you like intellegent strongwilled women. it can't be helped. i don't know.. it's funny. men would enjoy it, but i think women would have problems with it. I have a problem with the idea of carting off my nonexistent pubescent daughter to the arms of a polgamy promoting pedephile. 'snot rite... not that i posses an inkling of moral authority over another person who choses to do so or choses to participate . so yes ma'am
more women is good. they just have to deal with each other without killing each other or me.

Good question. I used to think it would be cool to have two or three wives, until I found out that their menstrual cycles will coincide with each other........Forget it........
