It's not that the Republic party is against taxes... they use that as a ploy to convince the masses they are for small government and on their side.

Fortunately, the masses are a little wise to this ploy. We are able to see that while they do cut taxes, they give so much corporate welfare that we end up paying their revenue in other ways.

For example, while Bush was cutting our taxes, Pell Grants were made less, insurance premiums increased and many other things... not to mention that many lost their jobs and yes they were able to find work thereby keeping unemployment low; BUT, the new jobs were paying much less with less benefits.

All taxes for Americans were lowered in this administration. And, it doesn't take a think tank to figure out the oil companies are taking advantage of tax laws and loop holes.

It might take a think tank to explain the differences between democratic and republican parties though.

Your question teeters on one of the most basic premises believed by either party: Democrats are the higher taxes more benefits spread evenly throughout society. Republicans are pro-business and want the rich to pay the middle class so they can pay more taxes.

Both are BS policy and neither works well at all. Fact is: if either system worked perfectly, we would be operating under a socialist or fascist government,

Reagan put the wheels in motion for Clinton to be able to balance the budget. Part of our spending is to rebuild the military that Clinton decimated.

Yeah, the oil companies need to give back. They are reaping the biggest profits ever and it is NONE of their doing...it is the free market only.

And again, the wealthiest citizens pay the most in taxes. Take a look at Congress and the wealth that many of them have managed to accumulate. Kennedy is a big proponent of raising taxes, but his family money is set up in trusts, including many of them out of the country to avoid taxes. Same with Kerry and Heinz. Same with a lot of them. Hillary Clinton said that they need our money because they know what to do with it better than we do. Hell no. She's got NO idea what to do with my money and she'd better keep her grubby claws out of it.

And yes, Republicans have forgotten the promises that were made during Reagan and again during Clinton. Stop giving money hand over fist to the rest of the world, Stop funding the UN (please God, stop funding the UN so they'll HAVE to go away). Many of these companies have been given government loans. CALL THEM IN! Record profits means that your loans are due and payable NOW. Make Chrysler pay back every nickel they received and interest.

You've got to be kidding. What are you on? First, the Dems are going to raise your taxes. Why? Money!!!!!!! Second, you need to research the tax break for the oil companies. Look what the tax break is for. To open more refineries here in the US, gul of Mexico, and Alaska. This will make us a major independent supplier. To who, to us!!! Think before you assume. The current admin is do alot more good than anybody gives them credit for.

Just where do the democrats come up with the revenues for all their domestic assistance programs? As far as taxes on the "rich" are concerened, they should pay no more nor less than ANYONE else. Oil companies most times get tax breaks, just as any large corporation. Running a small or private buissiness also has its own tax exemptions and breaks. Its a reward for being industrious.Pesonally, these people should be rewarded, and it all Trickles down from there.....

Not strange .. brilliant. If there's ever been a bigger scam on the American people ...ever, I'm not aware of it.
The biggest tax breaks at exactly the same time they are posting the largest profits in the history of American business...
While we pay exorbitant premiums at the pump, they play war games with hundreds of billions of dollars.. most people are completely incapable of comprehending the amounts of money being discussed..
also of interest is that our military spending straddles our debt level.. they've gone up at exactly the same pace over the last 5 years, that's without the extra accounting that can't be included because of "secret" funding via homeland security..
Not strange... shameless !

I think that Republicans had/have the right "Idea" of limited small government. The problem was that they did not/could not follow through. Both parties need to seriously reconsider their fiscal policies and understand that there are justifiable times to raise taxes just as there are justifiable times to lower taxes. Also both parties should limit their spending and seriously reassess what the role of government is/should be.

You can't blame this on the Republican party. Do you remember when Newt was in control? We tried to pass a bill to eliminate "piggy back" bills, meaning that every law would stand alone not have no other spending attached. (we also tried to pass a balanced budget amendment) We tried, but it failed. It is the system, we almost changed it. Maybe it we all got together and demanded the change instead of pointing fingers and calling each other names...........

First of all those tax breaks were signed by Clinton.

Second the fact that the GOP has lost control of spending is the second largest factor in them losing power.

Kind of a no-brainer. If you don't take all my money for taxes, then I, a sort-of rich Republican, will be able to spend some of it. Isn't that the point?
