There are two kinds of engagement rings. The kind his grandmother wore, which you will accept and be proud to wear, of course, and he will burst with pride that you are wearing it and that this was something he could pass along to you. Then there is the new engagement ring, which he will probably pick out more by price than by appearance, and he probably won't care too much if you exchange it. You don't pick out your own ring though, unless your guy is totally unromantic or you are totally mercenary.

Let it b a surprise. If ur getting engaged, then the guy should have an idea of what kind of ring u want, but if he has no idea, then maybe u guys dont know each other well enough

Hopefully, you will wear this ring for the rest of your life...so it should be something that you really love. But, it is also important for him to buy something that he wants you to have and that he can afford. I would recommend that the two of you go shopping and take a look at some rings or go on line and shop...see what you really like and show him...then let him go and buy the ring himself....chances are he will pick something that he knows you will like and you will probably love it just because he picked it out and bought it for you......Good luck and I wish you a long and happy marriage

Pick out two rings and let him surprise you with which one you get and when you will get it. You don't need to live a lifetime with a ring you don't absolutely love - and he won't want you to.

You should just be surprised. When someone ask you to marry them, they give you a ring as a token of their love to you. Why should you pick it out?

It depends on you, I picked my own after we decided to get married. There was a certain one I wanted, and we got it.

You can always be surprised and exchange it. I don't think you get to choose. If you are asked today your only concern is the answer.

it depends on ur preference. if he knows u well enough then let him surprise u bcuz most likely u'll like it. n if he doesnt kno u well enough...u shudnt be gettn engaged :)
