need either a repair shop or parts in Michigan

Do a search for Freightliner. Their web site has a list of all of their dealers and approved shops. BTW: normally the air compressor (I assume you mean the one that supplies air to your tanks for brakes, etc.) is engine specific rather that truck type specific. IE: A Cat C-12 engine uses the same compressor no matter if in a KW, IH, etc. The only difference would be a standard unit vs a heavy duty unit. (larger air quantity measured in cubic feet per minute, or CFM and thus faster tank refilling)

BTW: A common misconception is that air compressors are belt driven. They are not. (at least in a Cat) They are normally connected to the front accessory case of the engine and have a shaft which runs througth the housing to a pulley. Inside the accessory housing, the compressor's shaft has gears that connect to gears that are connected to the crank shaft. The pulley on the end of the compressor shaft is driving the belts, not being driven by them.

are you sure you spelled freighliner right? I think it maybe freightliner is so it does not have a diesel air comp. it is belt driven usually 2 belts and can be repaired at a diesel shop look in the yellow pages

Any cat dealer or Evan a good napa parts store should be able to help you. I use to live in Michigan ,Hope your not out in the cold

the compressors are just as cheap to get a remanufactured one as to try to repair the old one,dont forget a new pressure regulator as well
