Sure, take a plastic bottle, like an empty coke bottle. Punch a couple of holes in it, and put in a little piece of cork or styrofoam. Fill it with real salty water (you'll need a lot of salt!). Since salt water is heavier than pure water, it will sink, but after awhile the salt water will run out of the holes and fresh water will replace it, and the cork or styrofoam will make it float. You'll have to experiment with the size of the piece of styrofoam, it needs to be small so it barely makes the bottle float.

Good luck!

And make sure your floating piece isn't going to soak up water, or of course it won't work.

what if you put a weight and some vinegar into an object and then insert a capsule of baking soda into the item? Like a gelcap thing. Once the gelcap dissolves, the air from the chemical reaction would force the object to the surface.

You can use emptied out cold medicine or vitamin caplets and an old plastic easter egg with a small stone in it, or whatever. lol.

Good luck. It's just one idea.

ps. maybe you could vary the timing by using different sized stones.

If you drop a grape into champagne it will do that by getting covered with bubbles while it is down, then rising up from the bubble buoyancy, and then losing bubbles so it goes down again.
