When was the last time you had an exam? If it's been 6 months or more, they will examine you for sure. If it's been less than that, they probably will just ask questions about the pills and how they are working for you etc.

If you've seen your dr. already this year then it is unlikely he or she will want to do an internal exam. More than likely what will happen is you will go in, they may ask for a urine sample (pee in a cup) to make sure you're not pregnant (whenever there has been a lapse in contraceptive taking, they want to rule out pregnancy before they give you the go ahead to start taking them again) and check your blood pressure. They'll ask you a few questions like if you're experiencing headaches or any other symptoms that you feel might be attributed to the pills and send you on your way with your prescription.
If you are going for your annual checkup, an internal exam might be part of this visit. NO ONE likes having these done but think of it as a present to yourself. Your Dr. is checking for any abnormalities and making sure that you're reproductive system is in good health. If you're very nervous TELL YOUR DOCTOR and the nursing staff. They can help put you at ease. My friend Lori's gynecologist prescribed her valium for when she had to have her annual exams, that's how much she hated seeing the Dr. You'll get through it and it's all worth it in the end!
Ask a friend that you trust to go with you and hold your hand.

Its very normal to have to go to the doctors when you need a refill, they shouldn't do tests unless you give them a reason to think there is something wrong that your unsure about, they can't do tests without your permission. They will need to explain the risks and directions of the pill's they are giving you, they will ask questions so they know they are giving you the right pill. If you are on other medication the pill might be affected by the other medication so they need to explain everything to you. This is for your safety and also for there license they can't just give you a prescription without seeing you. It would be illegal and they would be up for the risk of giving you the wrong pills.
Don't stress you will be fine, Take care.

Doctors freak me out as well, but this is one time everything should be fine. If you are taking any medications for a prologed amount of time there can be side-effects, or they can stop working. Doctor probably wants to make sure all is well wirh you - maybe pee in a cup, get your blood pressure and temp - but mostly talking.
Take a deep breath and relax. The smartest thing is to go to the doctor annually to keep you from havibg to go more often if something were to come up and you not be aware until much later

Oh, there is no need to be afraid. The doctors are only human, they will ask you questions maybe, and if you explain that you ran out of pills they will prescribe more. They won't do any more tests unless you ask them to. Don't worry, you'll be fine.

They will just questions honey...not likely they will do test. Even IF they do, its not painful ones. Dont worry, you shouldnt get scared to see a doc for contraceptives. Protect yourself for unwanted things that may happen. And..after you go, you wont be that scared anymore.
PS. Get a bar of choc, gum, or a glass of wine to makes you more relax before you go. You can go w a mate too..

It's probably just for a review as to how the medication is suiting you and to ask you how you feel it is working for you.
All repeat prescriptions come with manditory reviews, whether they are for a moisturiser or a pill. Don't stress about this.
