Where on the clavical did the fracture occur? While fractures of the middle third are most common, non-union is rare, but surgical fixation is usually successful.
Non-union of the end of the clavical is quite common because of the weight of the arm. However, most non-union distal clavical factures are pain-free and only a very small percentage require surgery or any further intervention.

they provides you with the set time of 8 weeks, extra or much less. There are some issues which may result healing and a few human beings heal speedier or slower. broken bones have this tendency to harm at the same time as they are healing and for a stable at the same time as after. only because of the fact the bone re-knits to something of the bone would not point out it extremely is back to finished capability. muscular tissues could be reconditioned, weight bearing and finished rotation could be slowly attained. PT will help. the full restoration era for a broken bone is probable extra like 6 months. Care could be taken which you do no longer over exert and rebreak it, because of the fact it's going to be susceptible even while healed.

For a healthy 40 year old man (myself) it took 12 weeks to heal, for an older gent such as yourself it could take a lot longer. They say it can take quite a long time for the elderly bones to heal, you just need to be careful not to use it too much, it will slow your healing process. The clavicle is one of the worst bones to break because there is nothing around it to support it during the healing process. I know, I've broken both of mine a number of times.

It should have healed in six to eight weeks. Obviously, you have something going on with the healing process. Have you been wearing the brace faithfuly? Failure to wear it as the doctor prescribed will hinder the healing process. Your age may also be a factor as to why it has not healed. Have you spoken with the doctor about it? Has he ran a test for osterporosis or bone density? If not, I would ask him if he would.

I broke mine at age 22 into 3 pieces. I am a competitive swimmer and it took almost an entire year for me to be able to swim as well as I once did without any pain or discomfort.
