I am writing a research paper, and i have found a wealth of information located in another students Senior Thesis posted online. I was wondering whether I can use and cite this information in my research paper? Anyone know?

I'm going to sound like a jerk but... what is the point of taking someone else’s research when that research may be inaccurate or unscientific. You will look like a fool if you took someone else's research and it turns out to be lacking scientifically.

With that said it depends on the solid base of the research. I would not rest the core of my research paper based on another undergrad's work. It’s a dangerous thing to do. If you cite research it should be substantial verifiable data. If you find compelling data search out to see if there are any Ph.D.s who have reported more specifically on the subject. If you’re going to cite anyone, make it someone who is respected and will earn some clout with the committee.

Yeah you can, but you have to cite the source of where you found it, and if you use any information let it be your own words because many schools now have provided professors with a computer program to track plaigarism and that's serious you can be thrown out of school for that.

I believe you can as long as you site the author and where you found the information. Typical MLA format would work here.

Sure as long as you cite it properly. Why not?

Yep, that's why they wrote it. Just be sure to cite it properly!
