Well, I know for most older folks, the control schemes of games was really hard for them to get used to. Too many buttons to push I guess. Tell them that the Wii is designed to be very user friendly and anyone can pick it up and play right away. The point of course is to convice them that they can play too.

If all other methods fail, you could always offer to chip in your money. This would probably help your parents realize how much you want it, and help relieve the thought of spending a sizeable amount of cash (even though the other consoles are more expensive).
